LaGrange and the rest of Troup County sit on I-85 near the Alabama line, a long way from most metro Atlanta treatment centers. For LaGrange residents who need medical detox or a residential stay, The Recovery Village South Atlanta in Stockbridge is about 71 miles northeast. The whole trip stays south of downtown Atlanta, so you avoid the Downtown Connector. Our campus offers medical detox, residential treatment, inpatient mental health care and partial hospitalization. Call (770) 376-0045 any time to talk with admissions.
Driving From LaGrange to Stockbridge
From downtown LaGrange the drive is about 71 miles and takes roughly 1 hour 30 minutes in normal traffic. Allow closer to 2 hours on weekday afternoons. Our address is 1000 Eagles Landing Parkway, Stockbridge, GA 30281.
- Main route: take Lafayette Parkway (GA-109) to I-85 north and continue about 46 miles past Newnan and Palmetto. Exit onto GA-138 (Jonesboro Road) at Union City and follow GA-138 east through Riverdale and Jonesboro to I-75. Go south on I-75 for about 3 miles, take the Hudson Bridge Road / Eagles Landing Parkway exit, and follow Eagles Landing Parkway to the campus.
- Interstate-only alternative: stay on I-85 north to I-285, go east on I-285, then south on I-75 to the same exit. It’s a few miles longer but has no traffic lights, and it’s often the better choice when GA-138 is backed up. Check live traffic before you choose.
- From West Point or Hogansville: join I-85 north at the nearest interchange and follow the main route.
Admission times are scheduled in advance, and arriving late can mean a longer wait. Build in time for I-85 traffic near the airport.
Planning the Trip From Troup County
Getting a ride. Please don’t drive yourself if you’re intoxicated or going through withdrawal. Most people from LaGrange are driven by family or a friend. If that isn’t possible, our Recovery Advocates can help you coordinate travel. Our what to expect page notes that we can arrange transportation from local airports, bus stations and train stations. Family members flying in from out of state can use Hartsfield-Jackson, which sits between LaGrange and Stockbridge.
Free, Confidential Helpline
Ready to take the next step toward recovery?
Our Recovery Advocates are available around the clock to answer your questions, verify your insurance, and help you find the right level of care — at no cost to you.
Before you leave home. Don’t stop alcohol or benzodiazepines abruptly before admission unless a doctor tells you to. Withdrawal can be dangerous, and medical detox exists so you can stop safely. Tell admissions exactly what you’ve been using.
Packing. Bring one bag with a photo ID, your insurance card, a list of your doctors and emergency contacts, at least 30 days of non-controlled prescription medications and about a week of comfortable clothing. The complete list is on our what to expect page.
Staying connected. For people in residential care or PHP, in-person visitation is held on Sundays from 3:45 to 5:00 p.m., with visitors approved by your therapist. Family involvement can also happen through virtual sessions, which helps when the round trip from LaGrange is three hours.
