Macon residents who need medical detox or a residential stay often look toward metro Atlanta. The Recovery Village South Atlanta in Stockbridge sits right off I-75, about 62 miles north of downtown Macon, which makes it one of the more practical inpatient options for Middle Georgia: one interstate, no downtown Atlanta traffic and an exit that leads straight to our campus. We offer medical detox, residential treatment, inpatient mental health care and partial hospitalization. Call (770) 376-0045 any time to talk with admissions.
Driving From Macon to Stockbridge
From downtown Macon the trip is about 62 miles and takes roughly 70 minutes in light traffic. Plan on 90 minutes or more on weekday afternoons and Friday evenings, when I-75 slows through Henry County around McDonough. Our address is 1000 Eagles Landing Parkway, Stockbridge, GA 30281.
- Main route: get on I-75 north from downtown Macon and stay on it for about 59 miles. Take the Hudson Bridge Road / Eagles Landing Parkway exit in Stockbridge and follow Eagles Landing Parkway about half a mile to the campus.
- From Warner Robins and Houston County: take I-75 north through Macon. The drive is about 78 miles, or roughly 1 hour 30 minutes without heavy traffic.
Leave extra time. Admission times are scheduled in advance, and arriving late can mean a longer wait at check-in.
Planning the Trip: Rides, Packing and Family Visits
Who should drive. Don’t drive yourself if you’re intoxicated or in withdrawal, and don’t stop drinking or taking benzodiazepines suddenly the night before just to be “clean” for admission. Withdrawal from these substances can be dangerous. Tell admissions what you’ve been using so they can advise you.

Our Recovery Advocates are available around the clock to answer your questions, verify your insurance, and help you find the right level of care — at no cost to you.
No ride? Our Recovery Advocates can help you coordinate travel. According to our what to expect page, we can also arrange transportation from local airports, bus stations and train stations. If you come by intercity bus, ask admissions about pickup before you book your ticket.
What to bring. Clients are asked to limit belongings to one bag. Bring a valid photo ID, your insurance card, a list of your doctors, at least 30 days of any non-controlled prescription medications and about a week of comfortable clothing. Your phone is kept in a locker except during set times. The full packing list is on the what to expect page.
Family visits. For people in residential care or PHP, in-person visitation is held on Sundays from 3:45 to 5:00 p.m. Visitors must be approved by your therapist, usually after a family session. Families in Macon can also join some sessions virtually, which saves a two-hour round trip.
Levels of Care at Our Stockbridge Campus
- Medical detox: around-the-clock medical monitoring during withdrawal, with medications when appropriate.
- Residential rehab: you live on campus with daily individual and group therapy. Most people receiving substance use treatment stay 30 to 45 days in residential care, including detox when needed.
- Inpatient mental health care: 24-hour support when mental health symptoms need close care.
- Partial hospitalization (PHP): structured day treatment as a step down from residential care.
The Stockbridge campus does not offer an intensive outpatient program. IOP is available at our sister facility Atlanta Outpatient Rehab by The Recovery Village in Sandy Springs, though that’s a long commute from Macon, so many people continue with outpatient care closer to home.
