Although we strongly encourage most patients to schedule their admission ahead of time, we do accept walk-ins for those who need inpatient rehab.
While we strongly recommend scheduling your admission in advance to minimize wait times, The Recovery Village Atlanta accepts walk-ins for our highest levels of substance use treatment between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please note that walk-ins are not guaranteed admission. Before you can enter care, our Recovery Advocates will take the necessary steps to confirm:
When you arrive at the facility, our reception team may ask a few brief screening questions to confirm that you’re eligible for our services and seeking same-day admission. If you have any additional questions or needs, our admissions phone line is also available to assist you.
You’ll then be welcomed into our waiting area, where a dedicated admissions phone line is available. From there, you’ll complete your pre-assessment, insurance verification and any required approvals over the phone. If you’re approved for treatment, we’ll provide an estimated wait time, as walk-ins are admitted between scheduled appointments. Please keep in mind that walk-in admission is not guaranteed.
While you wait, you can relax in a comfortable seating area with a television, and we will keep your luggage safely stored nearby where you can still see it.
When it’s time to begin the admission process, staff will conduct a required search of your person and belongings to help maintain a safe, substance-free environment for all residents. Items that are not permitted during treatment will be securely stored until your stay is complete. Periodic searches may also be conducted during your time in the program to ensure the safety of everyone in the facility.
Scheduling your admission in advance is highly recommended, with several benefits:
Most health insurance plans require members to pay certain out-of-pocket costs before coverage applies. These expenses — often referred to as your ‘Patient Responsibility’ — can include deductibles, co-insurance and other non-covered charges, and they vary from plan to plan.
When you are admitted, or once you are medically stable, a staff member will review your specific Patient Responsibility with you. They will explain that your deductible is due at admission, while any co-insurance amounts and remaining out-of-pocket balances will be billed after services are completed. During treatment, our onsite financial counselors will revisit your financial responsibility with your case manager, who can also assist you with navigating FMLA paperwork if needed.
It is important to check with your insurance provider before admitting to The Recovery Village Atlanta so you fully understand the benefits and limitations of your plan. Please note that your insurance may not be contracted as a participating provider with our facility. You are responsible for any non-covered charges and all out-of-pocket costs associated with your stay.
Walk-ins are only accepted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
No. Our residential inpatient mental health program does not accept walk-ins. Walk-ins are only available for medical detox and inpatient substance use treatment. To enter our mental health program, please call us to schedule your admission in advance.
If we’re unable to admit you at The Recovery Village Atlanta, we will connect you with a trusted partner facility that better fits your needs. A member of our community outreach team will help coordinate the referral to ensure a smooth and supportive transition to your next step in recovery.
We’re unable to provide transportation to or from the facility for walk-in admissions. If you need help arranging travel, please call us to schedule your admission in advance.
There are federal protections and workplace policies designed to support employees who need time off to recover from addiction. Knowing your rights and preparing ahead of time can make it easier to maintain your job while in treatment. If you plan to use FMLA to protect your employment during rehab, it’s important to begin the process as early as possible — ideally before arriving for treatment. You’ll need to notify your employer to initiate the required paperwork, but to maintain your privacy, you only need to state that you are receiving medical care
Most facilities allow only one piece of luggage per patient. Please keep in mind that our staff will review your belongings at admission and securely store any prohibited items for the remainder of your stay. You can view our full packing list and related policies online.
While you wait for admission approval, your luggage will remain nearby, unopened and within your sight. This helps ensure patient safety and preserves a substance-free environment. If you are not admitted, your belongings will be returned to you exactly as they were received. If you are approved for treatment, staff will then conduct a thorough search of your luggage before your care begins.
Scheduled admissions are given priority over walk-ins, so even after you’re approved, there may be a wait before you can begin the intake process. We’ll provide an estimated wait time, but please note that this timeframe is not guaranteed.
